Aurora Grove Real Estate
In the 17th Century, the area known now as Aurora, was surrounding the latest expansion of Yonge Street. At the end of the 17th Century, the first settlers of the area built the first home at the intersection of Yonge Street and Catherine Avenue. It was only 9 years later (1804) when the area began to grow, with merchants seeing business opportunity at the Yonge Street and Wellington area (known as Machell’s Corner’s after the first merchant to build his business here named Richard Machell). Other businesses opened (a postmaster set up shop named Charles Doan and later on was influential in naming Aurora) and 1853 brought in the building of the railway. Now, Aurora was growing substantially with new residents and new businesses. As 1888 rolled in, the population had grown to such a degree over the years, that Aurora was now a strong economic area for industrial & commercial influence in York Region and a great launching point for residents that wanted to work and visit Toronto from the immediate northern position (Lester B. Pearson – PM of Canada, spent his childhood years at his home in Aurora).
Aurora is in the Greater Toronto Area & within the Golden Horseshoe and borders with Newmarket (north), Richmond Hill (south), Whitchurch – Stouffville (east) and King City (west), which makes the municipality of Aurora highly enticing to home buyers and commercial investors alike for its strategic positioning. The downtown core of Aurora possesses gorgeous condos that are cleverly constructed, offer fantastic downtown views and offer a whole slew of additional services and amenities to buyers. Just as enticing in this wealthy buffet of real estate for sale in Aurora, are the homes for sale. Detached, semi-detached, executive houses, and townhomes are a delightful blend of character-filled and a great use of space on all floors for families of all sizes. This area is always growing with amenities and businesses, so with opt-in investing within the real estate market, home owners are going to be nestled within one of the hottest areas that is in high demand.
Aurora remains an area of premium property investment for its many schools & educational outlets (George Street public school, Rick Hansen public school, Devins Drive public school, Lester B. Pearson public school, Wellington public school, Aurora Heights public school, Northern Lights public school, Aurora Grove public school, Regency Acres public school, Highview public school, Hartman public school, Dr. G.W. Williams high school, Aurora high school, St. Jerome Catholic elementary school, Light of Christ Catholic elementary school, St. Joseph Catholic elementary school, Our Lady Grace Catholic elementary school, Holy Spirit elementary school and Aurora Montessori school). The ease of transportation in, out, and around Aurora is another attractive point to this fantastic municipality. Along the western border is Bathurst Street, the eastern border provides access to Highway 404, Yonge Street, Leslie Street and Bayview Avenue, the southern border opens up Bloomington Road and east/west directional grid is obtained by utilizing Yonge & Wellington. Public transportation is provided by York Region Transit, VIVA and Aurora’s GO Train Station.

Theatre (since the 1800s) has been and continues to be a big part of daily life to those who live and play in Aurora. The Canadian Moments Mural, Aurora Town Park and the Body Beautiful Day Spa are excellent spots to enjoy.
Bicycle path networks are abundant in Aurora, as is the amount of walking and hiking trails that periodically connect to the vast 46 parks open to the public. Many parks offer sports fields & courts, splash pads, gazebos, washroom facilities, playgrounds, memorials, public seating areas, picnic areas, open-air ice rinks, toboggan hills & slopes, skateboard & BMX facilities, gardens and plenty of parking. The Aurora Community Arboretum is a wonderful sample of how Aurora residents feel about maintaining treed & shrub-kept areas, along with lots of greenspace and naturally occurring woodlands. The St. Andrew’s Valley Golf Club is a great way for residents to get out there and enjoy some golfing locally.
Shopping at the Aurora Shopping Centre (50 years of service to Aurora residents and visitors) is not the only shopping outlet for people here, but the surrounding municipalities of York Region all provide many countless opportunities to shop, revel in tasty foods and drinks and even do a little exploring. In Aurora, there are a great deal of great eating and drinking spots, cafes and ideal ‘grab & go’ bakeries and delis. Fine dining is also just steps away in either direction in the downtown core of Aurora.
